Man charged after 'exposing himself and sexually assaulting' jogger

A man has been charged after a female jogger was sexually assaulted near Kildwick in the Cross Hills area on Tuesday.

At about 7.45am on Tuesday, police received a report that a man had exposed himself and sexually assaulted a female jogger, before running off under the footbridge towards Kildwick.

A “significant” police operation was in place in Kildwick throughout the remainder of the day and on Wednesday, a 43-year-old man from Bradford was arrested, a North Yorkshire Police spokesperson has said.

He was taken into police custody where he was charged with sexual assault, possessing an offensive weapon in a private place and possessing a knife in a public place.

He appeared at York Magistrates’ Court yesterday (Saturday, April 13), where he was remanded in custody to appear at York Crown Court on May 15.
