Two men charged after 'beautiful angel' Amber Deakin, 18, died in fatal Bradford crash

Two men have been charged with causing death by dangerous driving after a fatal crash in a Bradford town.

Jordan Spalding, 23, of Wharncliffe Crescent and Shakeel Ahmed, 28, of Moresby Road, have been charged after the crash in Baildon Road, Baildon on January 3, 2023. Young mum Amber Deakin was just 18 when she died in the crash.

The pair will appear at Bradford Magistrates Court in October. A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “Police investigating a fatal road traffic collision in Baildon last year have charged two men.

“Jordan Spalding 23 of Wharncliffe Crescent and Shakeel Ahmed 28, of Moresby Road, have been charged with causing death by dangerous driving after the road traffic collision on Baildon Road on 3 January 2023.

“Spalding and Ahmed have been bailed to appear at Bradford Magistrates Court on 8 October 2024. “

Reports at the time said Amber was among six people in the silver Vauxhall Vectra when it overturned and crashed. West Yorkshire Police self-referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) following the crash.

Previously, Amber’s best friend Courtney Johnson described the mum to Junior as a “beautiful angel”. Junior was just 16-months old when Amber died.

Paying tribute to her friend, Courtney said: “I’m so sorry this happened to you. We left my house together and you never come back with me.

“I miss you so much and I will love you forever and always. You will be my beautiful angel. I will make sure Junior knows how good and amazing his mummy was.

“I love you and miss you forever. It’s not goodbye its see you later. 47 minutes changed our lives forever.”
